The Honorable David Heurtel was born in Montréal, where he graduated from Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf, prior to completing an LL.B. at Université de Montréal in 1993. He joined the Québec Bar the following year. From 1994 to 1998, he was an attorney with the Montréal law firm Lavery. After practicing law for several years, he studied sales and marketing at HEC Montréal business school and subsequently studied communications at the Kellogg School of Management in Illinois. In 2011, he also took advanced courses at the École des sciences de la gestion of Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM).

 

The Honorable David Heurtel was first elected to the Québec National Assembly in December 2013 as MNA for Viau, a riding in the east part of the Island of Montréal. He was re-elected in the April 2014 general elections and appointed Minister of Sustainable Development, Environment and the Fight against Climate Change on April 23, 2014. On October 11, 2017, he was appointed Minister of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusiveness.
